CIEC COVID 19 RESTARTING SCOUTING UPDATE

All Scouts, Scouting Volunteers and Families:

Our country has faced many epidemics throughout our history.  As Scouts, our first reaction is to help in any crisis because it’s what we are trained to do, it’s in our Scout Law and Oath.  “To help other people at all times, to be helpful, kind, cheerful, and obedient” are a few of our watch-words that apply right now.

Our office is in contact with local county health officials. Your rosters are required to be filled out with the proper names in case of an emergency.  Your unit keeps these Covid contact rosters. If we need them we will contact the unit leader. Each unit must keep a detailed roster of the participants at every meeting and activity,  in the event that contact tracing is required. Each unit must also retain a current Part A & B Medical form of each participant for this purpose. We will get through this , but we need your help in keeping everyone safe. These conditions are subject to change based on information we receive from the County / State Health Departments.

This update is for your information based on FAQ we have received concerning the COVID19 Restart plan:

  1. Continue to Wear Your Mask
  2. Wash your hands
  3. Maintain your social distance
  4. If you feel sick or have symptoms stay home and check with your doctor
  5. The current TOTAL number of participants in any Scouting activity is 12.  (Example 3 adults and 9 youth)
  6. Eagle Projects:  While patrol activities have been approved the integrity and social distance of that group must be maintained. Families may assist on Eagle projects but NOT BOTH (families and a patrol).  Group integrity must be maintained.
  7. Do not share items! (Rope, pocket knife water bottles etc.…).
  8. Only outdoor activities are currently permitted

All participants should review their current health prior to participating in any Scouting activity. Individuals with temperatures higher than 100.4 and/or other symptoms of COVID-19 should not participate in any Scouting activity.

Transportation to and from activities should be made within family units. Carpooling is discouraged.

Six-foot distancing should be maintained when practical during hikes, bike rides, and other “follow the leader” style activities.

Please review guidelines for not only your unit’s meeting location, but the location of any activity destination www.ciecbsa.org.
